Invitation from East York Collegiate School Council

The EYCI School council have booked a speaker event that is open to the community, including the DA Morrison community.
The title of the talk is BEATING THE ODDS. It’s about taking responsibility for personal change and growth, overcoming obstacles, facing fears and attaining goals.

Lesley Andrews is a well know Canadian singer, actress and motivational speaker. She has been hired by many prominent companies to speak. Those that have heard her know why. She suffered from low self-esteem, a learning disability, constant weight battles and more. Yet despite the obstacles, she was able to overcome them and move on. Her story is truly inspirational and it’s told in a way that engages her audience. It’s one of those talks that you attend and you know …. it can make a big difference. It’s not to be missed.

Life is predictable in that we know there will be many challenges and obstacles. How best can we overcome them and empower our children to do the same. This event is open to the community, parents, teachers and students. Pass it on to your friends and neighbours and come out to support your community. All proceeds benefit the students @ EYCI.

Permission forms for HPV Vaccine for Grade 8 Girls

Each year, Toronto Public Health offers free Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine to grade 8 female students through immunization clinics in schools.

Permission forms and a fact sheet went home with students this week. If you did not receive the package, please check with your daughters, or call the school office.

This is just to let you know that D. A. Morrison M.S. will be holding its Barbeque and Curriculum Night on Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at 5:30 p.m.

Changes to Principal & Vice Principal in the Fall

Effective September 1, 2010 Marlene Wolinsky will be the school principal, and Joe Messersi will be the vice principal. For more details, see the letter sent home with students on June 24, 2010, from Kathleen Cowan, Superintendent or Education, and Sheila Cary-Meagher, Trustee, Ward 16.

School Advisory Council in 2009-2010

It’s been a great year at DA!

School community council was involved in supporting our students in many positive
ways. This past year, they supported & funded several worthwhile endeavours:

All grade 6 students thoroughly enjoyed additional music instruction with a
percussion workshop hosted by DrumArtz thanks to school council funding. Thanks to
their generosity the students benefited from a series of completely interactive
workshops, with all classes participating in a workshop throughout the day. Students
were 'expert’ enough to finish their workshops with a group performance.
